Faster reboot

Problem:
I just modified a system setting that requires me to restart my computer. Is there a way to speed up the restart?

Versions:
Windows 95/98/ME

Solution:

Here's how you can restart Windows and bypass the POST, memory check, etc. that happens when you first turn on your computer.

  1. Click the Start menu button--Shut Down...
  2. In the Shut Down Windows window, make sure "Restart the computer" is selected.
  3. Hold down the <Shift> key while you press the OK button.

Windows will be back up and running in no time! (Ok, ok...in a few seconds anyway.)
